The Rapid Fire BOOK TAG

Hey everyone! I’m here today with the Rapid Fire book tag that I’ve seen popping up around the blogosphere lots lately and it looks like a lot of fun, so without further ado, let’s get started!

E-Book or physical book?

As much as I love love love holding a physical book and it looking all pretty on my shelf, I have to say I prefer to read on an E-book. BUT, it’s only for one reason. With E-books you can literally stay in the same position for hours and only have to move to press a button, whereas trying to read a physical book in the same position for about 20 minutes is enough to make my arms feel like they’re going to fall off.

Paperback or Hardback?

I honestly have no preference. I love the weight of hardbacks and how they look, plus they’re less likely to get damaged by the smallest things, but paperbacks are lighter and easier to carrier around. Either way, I like ’em both.

Online or in store book shopping?

There’s nothing I love more than going to a book store searching for a book to take home with me, before awkwardly run-walking home because I’m too excited to get back to dive into it. However book stores are pricey, so I buy the majority of my books online.

Trilogies or series?

It doesn’t matter – I’ve read awesome trilogies and some awesome series’. Though you do get series’ that would’ve been better off as a trilogy, and trilogies that could’ve been longer.

Heroes or villains?

Can I say villains that become heroes? or heroes that become villains? Because they’re the best kind!

A book you want everyone to read?

Senlin Ascends by Josiah Bancroft. I just can’t explain how much fun I had reading this book, and I would love for everyone to experience it too. It’s just wonderful. That and 1984 by George Orwell.

The last book you finished?

The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli

The last book you bought?

Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote

Weirdest thing you’ve used as a bookmark?

The paper sleeve from a KitKat wrapper? I’m not even kidding, I used it for months after I ate the thing.

Used books: Yes or No?

Of course! Books are books, used or new – it’s the story that counts.

Top three favourite genres

Fantasy, Sci-Fi, contemporary

Characters or plot?

Oh this is tricky. See, a bad plot can be overlooked if you have some brilliant characters, however I can be put off a brilliant plot with bad characters. I’m going to go with characters.

Long or short books?

I find that long books can be intimidating, especially if you’re unsure whether you’re going to like them or not, so for this one I’ll say shorter books  as they’re less commitment, however if the book is part of the series, then bring on long books with lots of pages!

Books that make you laugh or cry?

Books that make me laugh and cry (I’m cheating a little here). However if there is a book that can make me do either one, then it deserves an applause.

Our world or fictional worlds?

Fictional! I live in this world already, and although there are some great books set in our world, why wouldn’t I want to get sucked into one with dragons and magic?! Nothing is more exciting that getting to explore and live in another world for a little while.

Audio books, yes or no?

Yes! I wouldn’t choose to listen to a book over reading, but if I’m on the go and want to read whilst needing to do something else, then they’re a great way to do so. (Although when it comes to audio books, I find my mind starting to wander and I am constantly rewinding to re-listen)

Do you ever judge a book by it’s cover?

Absolutely. I’m sorry, it’s terrible but I do. I know I shouldn’t because I have read books with hideous covers that became favourites of mine. Pretty covers are my weakness, what can I say?

Book to movie, or book to TV adaptations?

Oooh this is hard. I don’t feel like I’ve seen many book to TV adaptations that have been uh-mazing, whereas I have more so with book to movie adaptations. There’s always going to be bad adaptations with either, but equally there are some brilliant ones with both, but for now I’ll go with book to movie.

A movie or TV show you preferred to it’s book?

This is usually not the case for me and I might get people chasing me with pitchforks for the answer I’m about to give, but the one that comes to mind is The Fault in our stars. DON’T GET ME WRONG, I absolutely adored the book. But I have to say I enjoyed the film a lot more, it had me sobbing uncontrollably, which didn’t happen so much when reading. I feel like it’s okay to say this though because John Green was heavily involved in the making of the film, and it’s stays pretty true to the book.

Series or stand-alones?

Stand-alones. I like conclusions and endings without having to get through for multiple books to get there.
